Texas Chili Company began doing business in December 1952, making "brick" chili from an old recipe. Chili was prepared and filled into a rectangular "brick shaped" pan and frozen, thus the name brick chili. Although the packaging has changed, the company still produces this type of chili in the same Fort Worth location and markets it in supermarkets in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and parts of New Mexico. Texas Chili Company provides an extensive food service distribution of food services products throughout the country.

In 1988 Texas Chili Company began marketing its now well known "ONE STEP CHILI" for use in foodservice. Soon thereafter, "BEEF TACO FILLING" and "CHILI WITH BEANS" were added to the foodservice line and Texas Chili Company generates approximately 70% of its revenues in the foodservice industry while maintaining a viable presence in the supermarket. Private labeling and custom formulations have become a significant part of the business both in the retail and the foodservice industries.
